This paper provides a general overview of the global situation regarding refugees. Specifically, the paper focuses on current trends affecting refugees, and the responses of the developed and developing worlds to those issues. Restrictive measures in the north, designed to limit the numbers of asylum seekers in developed countries, correspond with a decrease in security for refugees in the south. It is suggested that there are clear linkages between the two situations.Metrics
